A World of Wonder and Wearable Art

What happens if you mix Cirque De Soleil with fairytale whimsy and a touch of Gaga couture?
Patrons of the Hong Kong Arts Festival will learn the answer on 29 January 2012, when the “World of WearableArt” (WOW) – a spectacular merging of art, theatre and fashion – is set to make its Asian debut.

Originating in Wellington, New Zealand, WOW’s mission is to take art off the wall and out of static display, using it to adorn the human body in fantastically evocative ways. With themes ranging from indigenous Maori culture to children’s storybooks and the avant-garde, WOW promises to be a high-energy – and universally appealing – visual feast.
Running until 5 February 2012, WOW Hong Kong will feature more than 100 original, wearable works of art, in a performance uniquely adapted for the Hong Kong Arts Festival. True to WOW’s roots, however, the art is bound to speak for itself.
